Mornings with Jesus
I enjoy the early morning most of all. Mostly on days like today, where the children kids (children? when have you ever called them that? more coffee please!) have a rare day off of school and I can wake up naturally and get to business. 5:30 called me this morning and coffee. Always coffee. Kona or Colombian depending on the mood. 1 sugar and 1 Coffeemate powder if you please. Just the way Grandma always served it to me. (because too much sugar will give me die-a-bee-tees.)
Wake up naturally, and spend time with Him. That is the key to relationship. Time.
I climb in my comfy chair and reach for my Immerse Poets Bible. Instead I pick up a journal. I love to write my prayers. My ADD mind can’t always stay on the line with God. I write and get distracted because I don’t like the way the pen is working. I grab my favorite purple pen, write two words and it fizzles out. My hand keeps moving, praying, pouring out invisible words that only God will see. And I feel so connected. He hears me. He sees the invisible ink marks on the page and He calms my restless heart.

How do you connect with God? Do you avoid prayer because you feel you don’t know how? Boldly approach Him today and declare: I don’t know how to pray but I’m willing to listen and learn.
