Happy, happy Sunday!

We received answers to hundreds of prayers overnight. “Rain on our weary land, Oh God. We know that we plant the seeds and only you can water.”

Brown grass perked up overnight and there is a sign of green again. Corn stalks reach towards the Heavens declaring the glory of God and the promise He gives to make things grow.

Even so, if it hadn’t rained a drop, we would still wake up, praise Him, and wait for the rain. Maybe not patiently, we are human, after all. But in farm life we do learn humility. We can’t grow a thing without the Maker of the Universe.

We can, however, grow in Him. Lean on Him. Learn to communicate our needs. Confess that we know that we are totally dependent on Him for everything. Every breath. Every meal. Every load of grain. Every storm.

And you? Do you turn to Him for every need? What do you need Him to rain down on you today?

Let Him drain your worries away. Speak His Name, “Jesus.” Breathe in His goodness and life. Do not be afraid, He is with you.

It is well with my soul,

Carolyn
