Happy fall y’all

It’s my favorite time of the year. We are in the middle of corn harvest, leaves are slowly changing, and the corn dryer runs monotonously in the background assuring us that we are blessed. First frost means no more hayfever. Candy corn mixed with popcorn and peanuts. (yes, i said it!) We are almost settled into our school routines, although it is still hard to settle down at night when the weather is so beautiful.

Sweatshirts and leggings. Bonfires. Still sleeping in the camper on the weekends because, fresh air.

I am working as a special education and behavior paraeducator at our middle school, grades 5-8, and I am loving it. Each day is different with new celebrations and challenges. I love working with a variety of teachers, each with their own style and inspiration.

I was enrolled in a program at the University of Northern Iowa to fast track earning my teaching degree. The “was” is because of some political/district junk that has ended up in a fiasco that I am still trying to sort through emotionally, professionally, and financially. I was withdrawn from my program by my district without warning. I was earning a 4.0, had invested hours of my time, and am not sure that my money will be returned to me for the semester. It is a devastating mess, but I am absolutely sure that God has a plan for this!

Here’s to pumpkins and dreams,

Carolyn
