Procrastination, the thief of my joy
“Why do you always start things and never finish? The grandfather clock. Your writing. Teaching. School. Why?” my husband finally let loose about a week ago when I asked him if he was mad at me.
Prescription refills. Returning phone calls. Dishes. Laundry. Diets. Cups of coffee even. Why don’t I ever finish anything?
Not my family - not even close!
Searching for “mom chaos” provided this image. What?
“Come my little darlings and frolic with me!”
I decided to check out what God has to say and of course, turned to Proverbs 31. Because, hey, she’s the ultimate superwoman, right?
I caught something I have missed over the years. Verse 15 says that she gets up early and assigns tasks to her maids. Now, I don’t have maids but I do have five other people that live here. IF I had them helping how many of my dreams would come to fulfillment? And, why on Earth had I not taught the younger kids to help around the house> When had I become the maid and they become the little havoc wreaking despots they are today?
Buy another planner? Sure that will fix it.
So, what now? More list making? More piling up crap instead of flinging it? More missing library books? More bounced checks and complete chaos?
Not today, Satan, not today.
Stay tuned.
