Thee Worst Mother-In-Law?

My favorite picture of the two of us

I know he probably won’t want me to write this post, but I’m going to anyway, because I’m his Mama.

I look at this picture and I see happiness. Completeness. Brokenness and restoration. Tears of joy.

And a confession to make, I was a terrible mother-in-law to be.

Here’s how NOT to be a mother-in-law:

  • don’t support her or her individuality

  • act like a raving lunatic

  • tell everyone you know how she is wrong for your son

  • be ugly - just plain ugly

Yes, me, the Christian acted like a complete heathen. One of the best things my daughter-in-love ever said to me was, “If being a Christian means being like you then I want nothing to do with it.” Humbling? Nah. Hit me with a skillet and knock me to my knees humility.

I love her fierceness. Her honesty. But most of all her love for my son. So this post is dedicated to you - Abber-girl. Happy Anniversary! I love you.
